In nur fünfzehn Jahren trug das Frankfurter Ehepaar Ludwig und Rosy Fischer eine über 500 Werke umfassende Sammlung von expressionistischen Gemälden und Graphiken höchster Qualität zusammen – darunter Hauptwerke von Kirchner, Heckel, Nolde und Schmitt-Rottluff.
