Event location: Library in the Jewish Museum, Bertha-Pappenheim-Platz 1, 60329 Frankfurt am Main

This conversation brings together three artists who live and work in Germany and were born in Israel. The discussion revolves around a simple but pressing question: How do contemporary art practices engage with current events and crises? How do they reflect the tensions between specific identities and universal values? And how does an individual artistic voice respond to a world that feels unstable, polarized, and ethically complex?

Ilit Azoulay was born in Jaffa, Israel, and currently lives in Berlin. She is known for her large-scale photomontages that combine images to open up alternative perspectives within familiar fields of knowledge. Also born in Jaffa, Nadia Perlov now lives in Frankfurt. Her work explores narratives of migration and investigates their complex interrelations between politics, architecture, and territory. Omer Krieger creates performative actions and political situations in public spaces, examining the relationships between art, the state, and citizenship. He co-founded Public Movement, directed the “Under the Mountain” Festival in Jerusalem, and was the founding director of the 1:1 Center for Art and Politics in Tel Aviv.

The conversation will be held in English and is part of the accompanying program to the exhibition WHAT A FAMILY! Ruthe Zuntz: 500 Years in Focus.
