A new Website for the Jewish Museum

Our new website went online just before the Jewish New Year festival of Rosh Hashanah 2018. After one year of redesign and content editing, our museum is now available for your enjoyment in its new form and design 24/7. Get to know it in mobile or on your computer, and check out our topics and offers.

Lean, stylish and fast

Our new website is structurally designed to reflect our museum. It has less of a hierarchical structure and is organised as a network. We have done away with sub-menus and offer instead one homepage and four start pages addressing different visitors with different needs:

VISIT is designed to prepare you for visiting the museum. On this page, you can find all relevant information about exhibitions, tours and events at our two locations as well as other locations in Frankfurt, like, for instance, the memorial site at the Großmarkthalle.

The EXPLORE page is where you can get to know our museum. It gives you insight into our collection, the Family Frank Centre, our digital offerings and our museum’s history.

LEARN provides an overview of our thematic offers: our publications, guided tours, workshops and training seminars. You can apply a filter to search these offerings by target group, theme and format.

On CONNECT, we invite you to come into closer contact with us. This is the page where we introduce you to our museum team, and present our cooperations and the association of friends and patrons.

Different people have different interests

A fundamental idea behind our new website is gearing it to our online visitors’ different interests. Prior to our relaunch, we conducted an online survey of these interests and evaluated our online tracking data and social media feedback. Since then, we know that in addition to our direct service and orientation on our current offerings, our online visitors are very interested in finding out more about our themes and studying them in more detail. We now want to give them a chance to do this in our EXPLORE and LEARN pages.

We have also consistently translated our entire content into English to serve our international digital and tourist public. What’s more, we will offer all new articles in both German and English in the future.

Our digital communication hub

We implemented another element of our digital strategy in our website redesign and launch. We consider this website as the hub of our digital communication. You can follow our social media tweets and posts, contact us directly and get involved via our homepage and under CONNECT. Our three other pages give you an overview of our offerings in social as well as digital space. Last but not least, this website itself is also a communication platform for learning about Jewish culture and its history in Frankfurt.

New corporate design

Our website was conceived, designed and realised in collaboration with Fork Unstable Media. It is based on our new corporate design developed for us by markwald /neusitzer identity,  which received the 2018 Red Dot Award for its top design quality.

What’s next...

Relaunching a website is a never-ending process. The next thing we are planning is to launch an integrated blog in which our colleagues report on current projects, offer glimpses behind the scene and introduce new acquisitions and objects. And, in the background, we continue to make headway in the digitization of our collection. We are working to create digital access for you to the cultural assets preserved in our depository.

Feedback?!

We hope you like our new website! Please send an e-mail to us at: onlineredaktion@juedischesmuseum.de if you have any comments, questions or criticism.
