This collection area consists of more than 300 metres of shelf space filled with records and more than 21,000 photos. Evidence on the history of the Jews in Frankfurt from the Medieval Ages until today constitutes the centrepiece of the collection. A number of comprehensive legacies document the history and culture of Jews in Hesse and Westphalia, in the eastern German states, in neighbouring Silesia and the former Prussian province of Poznan. The photo archive comprises a collection of photographs on the history and culture of Jews in Frankfurt am Main and Hesse as well as in the entire German-speaking region, and also of photo material for our exhibitions to date.
